How did I get to this place of Peace anyhow? It was both simple and required work at the same time. You remember the story about the rich young ruler in the NT who comes to Jesus, asks what he must do to be saved and Jesus replies ‘give up your wealth, your lifestyle, give all your money to the poor and follow me.’ (Matthew 19:16-30 Anita paraphrase) Yeah well.

I didn’t have any wealth...

I’d love to tell you I have some kind of trumpet-fare existence, the source of these weekly posts comes from the journals of a well-travelled, well-seasoned person who has impressive and mind-blowing interactions with the world and the people who live on it.

Totes not…

I am sitting here typing in my pyjamas, (which I bought online from Target) drinking my salted, buttered coffee at a desk wh...

Humans have a tendency to look for short-cuts. We prefer to find the quick way, the most efficient and effective way. The long way round doesn’t suit us past the first time; a pioneer might thrive on doing the hard yards, but even a pioneer doesn’t want to do the hard way the second time through if a short cut can be found-  Speaking from experience!

The difficulty we face on...

How do we enter a new year with the best foundation structured around us for success? It is not in our resolve, resolution, goal or determination.

Instead it is in our acknowledgement and our choices. Our understanding of what is most important, what stands underneath all things, what makes up our foundation and what we choose to do about it.

Whom have I in heaven but you? And eart...

One of the delightful things about this new life with this new brain is that I often get to be surprised by the things that come out of my mouth! Seriously, there are things in my brain that I have no idea are in there. I am convinced that there’s part of me that is exclusively for Jesus’ use because I have no idea what He has stored in there until it comes splurting out of my mouth, or on...

You know when you look at something, but don’t see it? Like when you look in the wardrobe and don’t see the shirt that you want, which is actually right in front of your nose? Or you can be looking for something for hours and then someone else walks into the room (mostly your mother) and finds it in 2 seconds… Happens to teenagers a lot. Also guys. There’s actually a biological reason for...

Have you ever noticed those tiny little flowers in the grass? Some of them wouldn’t even be half a centimetre across. They grow really low to the ground, and you don’t notice them often unless you’re looking. Also sticky weed has a really lovely flower. It’s purple and pink and is very vibrant but would be 8mm by 2mm if it’s lucky.

What would even pollinate something that small? And how sma...

Practicing the Presence of God is not just about living in His Presence. It is also about knowing who we are and how to be who we are in Him, in all circumstances. Learning our Authority in Christ, and using our Authority in Christ. This post is about the Sword of the Spirit- the Word of God.

There is a strength comes from understanding the power in the Word of God. This is not an inte...

So, I spent an amazing weekend “frome” as Humpty Dumpty calls it in Alice- or ‘from home’ a portmanteau word; two words squashed together, making the meaning more than the two separately, and also more efficient. Don’t ask me, it is Lewis Carroll after all…!

I do all sorts of awesome things on these extended weekends, lots of prayer meetings, other meetings, days with friends watching TV, s...

I’ve been working through something.

Do you ever have something that you want to do, and you think God is saying no, but you still want to do it? Crunch time is a long way off, so there’s a long wait to wrestle it out together before you have to make a decision. Somewhere along the way you either find out either that it isn't God saying no, or you end up doing what He wants, or you do...

Looked at myself in the mirror of truth today (at time of writing) and thought: “Anita, today is a do-over day if ever there was one.” Well, at least the second half of it was. I was driving back from somewhere and managed to drive with an attitude that was kinda unhelpful. I wasn’t in the moment able to pray, praise, worship or talk my way out of it. What I ended up doing was pulling over...

Actually, I really recommend getting a cup of tea first, or coffee. And maybe a biscuit, if you’re into biscuits. I am, but my kitchen is dreadful, so I don’t bake often. Booo!

Have you ever wondered where Jesus actually is? I mean in relation to you? I write a bit about Practicing the Presence of God, and the first step really in order to do that, is to work out where God is. I mean, apart...

My friend Graham Cooke (who doesn’t know he is my friend, but I really like his accent and the stuff he says makes sense so I’ve totally adopted him) says in “A Way In The Wilderness” teaching series that if you can teach about an experience that you're currently going through, then you're not really engaged in the process properly. It has to do with being wholly given over, wholly surrend...

Well, this is awkward. Not being a literal bird, I can’t actually tell you. I’ve spent a lot of time watching birds, there are twitchers in my family, and hours upon hours of David Attenborough documentaries though. Do those things stand up as a qualification!

In recent weeks I have come across no less than 18 Wedge-Tailed Eagles in my travels. They are classified as Golden Eagles just...

Going for a walk this last Saturday with my sister, I managed to walk off a beach with an arm and several pockets full of rocks, after a walk on a beach in a place that was significant for us during our childhood. It was deliberate, it was deliberate!

I attended a womens’ retreat this last weekend, which was an amazing time of being able to examine with God where we were at, where thin...
